CASA 2023 a Letter from our President

This letter is a month overdue, but CASA is in the middle of making some new EXCITING
changes for the year 2023. When we were unable to provide basketball in 2022, it opened the
door to many community conversations. Board members were able to improve on areas that
people felt were important to youth sports for all young people at an affordable cost. This was
the philosophy of the founding members of CASA when it was started over 55 years ago and
why the fields on Plett Rd. and 13th Street were created.
The board has decided:
-To purchase our own insurance
-To open spring/fall soccer and baseball/softball to area youth
-To continue paying to rent CASA Fields and gym space to run our programs
-To charge $5 more per sport and give scholarships when needed
-To continue hiring 5th grade on up to ref or umpire our programs and to work
around their schedules
-To still offer trainings and clinics for players and coaches
-To belonging to the Osceola League for baseball/softball to offer some competition
outside of CASA.
-To encourage others to reach out to Community Schools to rent the fields so they don’t
go unused and lay idle
Some individuals new to Cadillac aren’t/weren’t aware of our programs, and the fields
available to rent through Community Schools for everyone’s usage. Word of mouth, sharing our
website, and promoting the benefits of CASA in community organizations you are involved in
are greatly appreciated! Teamwork, learning the different sports and offering the opportunity for
ALL area youth to play at an affordable price have been goals of CASA over the years. The
breakdown of ages: spring/fall soccer four year old – 8th grade, baseball/softball five year old –
8th grade, basketball 2nd – 6th grade and volleyball 2nd – 6th grade. We have been asked to
offer other sports but right now we want to focus on these.
CASA is still a THRIVING avenue for youth sports in our area. CASA reaches out during
each sport to find volunteer coaches. Volunteers are a vital part of keeping CASA at a low cost,
and it gives parents a chance to be active participant in the sport with their child. We want to
thank these individuals for giving up their time and sharing their knowledge with their team. We
have past CASA players even volunteering to coach!
Since we were unable to run basketball in 2022, we moved basketball sponsorships to
volleyball. We appreciate the continued support of our community, area businesses and
volunteer organizations. We hope your sponsorship on the back of our tshirts has promoted
your businesses! I wanted to answer many of the questions that were posted on our page over
the past couple of months. CASA appreciates the feedback. I am excited for the changes CASA
has made this year and see you at the fields!

CASA – Our Mission Statement / Purpose

Welcome to the offiCial CASA Sports website. We have recently partnered with Cadillac News Design & Development to produce this new website. We are very proud of the new design and hope that It will better information you about our organization.

We are dedicated to providing a fun, safe, educational environment for your children.

As a former member of CASA. I wish to commend you for volunteering your time and efforts towards area youth. Without your support, the CASA program would not exist.

A vital part of the program includes the safety of all children involved. This is a major concern for CASA. local police and the community in general. One way we can ensure this safety is by conducting a background check on all members of CASA This is done through the auspices of the Community Child Watch program This program is state sanctioned and supported locally by the Cadillac Area Schools, law enforcement and CASA In fact, CASA has adopted this program as a condition of becoming a volunteer.
